Oriental meatballs with sweet and sour sauce

Ingredients

  • Meat Balls:
  • 275 grms lean ground beef
  • 1/2 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/6 cup fine bread crumbs
  • 0.375 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • Sweet and Sour Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water

Method

Step 1

Meat Balls:

Measure all ingredients into bowl. Mix well. Shape into 1 inch (2.5 cm) balls. Arrange on oiled baking sheet. Bake in 175 C (350 F) oven for 15 minutes

Sweet and Sour:

Step 4

Stir in pineapple juice. Add vinegar. Ketchup, Water and soy sauce. Heat and stir until it boils and thickens. Sauce can be served separately for dipping or can be poured over meatballs to serve from chafing dish.
